Q Context Last week (4/29), we discussed the answers to #s 1-5 of Integrating Sources Effectively in detail. We covered a lot of basics and guidelines regarding what constitutes plagiarism, what constitutes acceptable paraphrasing (and what doesn't), what correct quoting entails, and rules of how to use brackets and the ellipsis mark as well as signal phrases and in-text citations. Because we haven't yet finished reviewing the rest of those answers or the answers to the Dreiser Plagiarism Exercise, I'm sharing the answers below so that you can, for this assignment, see which ones you've answered correctly or not, as well as how well your reasoning is supportable by the materials on how to properly integrate sources (provided on Perusall). Directions For this assignment, I want you to cross-check your answers to Integrating Sources Effectively and the Dreiser Plagiarism Exercise with the correct answers below and then provide your (possibly new) reasoning or explanation for the correct answers. Correct Answers for Integrating Sources Effectively #6. This isn't really a paraphrase but rather a summary. What's the difference? #7. This is a fine paraphrase. Why? Integrating sources Effectively 6. For this I wrote down that it isn't acceptable nor is it a paraphrase because there aren't any quotes. It seems to me that it is a statement from the student. 7. This is a fine paraphrase because it meets all the requirements. The quotations are correct, I understand what the student is quoting as well as the, citation is also correct. 8. This student needs to take out the word probably, it doesn't give much reassurance to his sentence. There aren't any quotes either, nor is there any citation mark. This student plagiarized everything he or she wrote. Dreiser Plagiarism 1. This student is missing a lot. The introduction sentence isn't bad at all but then the student goes on to say more things about the person, just no evidence to help us understand who we are talking about.
